Extractions

tooth-extraction

Whilst it is always preferable to keep your teeth sometimes if a tooth is badly damaged by decay, injury, impacted or abscessed it may need to be extracted. If a tooth cannot be saved or is causing damage to adjacent teeth and tissues, removing it is then more beneficial. Extraction of teeth is a simple procedure that can be done in the dental chair under a local anesthetic.Sometimes the tooth may need to be split in order to assist in its removal (especially with impacted wisdom teeth and badly broken teeth). The procedure itself is pain free as a result of local anesthetic, however, you may experience some discomfort after the anesthetic wears off. This can be easily controlled by over-the-counter pain relief medication.
